| American Bar Association and state studies have documented that at least eighty percent of the legal needs of low-income persons remain unmet. Only one-fourth of low income people who receive legal services do so from pro bono legal organizations (that is, receive free legal services). In fact, a large portion of low-income communities and communities of color that receive legal services pay for them, often utilizing solo and small firm practitioners. This reality coincides with a time when legal services for the poor are under regular attack and marginalized communities are increasingly burdened by the inequities of a society with other priorities. The Law School Consortium Project was founded to bring forth an innovative approach to address this significant void of accessible and affordable legal services. We hope that you will support our efforts to significantly expand the number of lawyers, law schools, community members and others connected to our mission: to provide support to law school graduates developing economically viable solo and small firm practices serving low-income and middle-income communities. We want to help create and strengthen these private forms of public interest practice that provide access to justice through affordable legal services. Please join us as we work with social justice practitioners to make a real difference in the lives of the many people and communities in America who will never have legal justice until they have legal access. Thank you for supporting the Law School Consortium Project in our effort to increase access to justice to low- and moderate-income individuals and communities.
